Newsworthy Notes
JUST IN! -- My work was accepted for inclusion in the online publication Gawker.  If you're unfamiliar with it, it's a daily Manhattan media publication featuring news and gossip.  To find out more click on www.gawker.com/artists to see my profile and find out more about Gawker and how it supports artists.

The end of 2007 proved to be an exciting and very busy time of year.  I tried a few new things, had several new students and sold several artworks.  I've learned a lot over the past four months about making art, about selling it and about teaching it. I am already excited to execute all of my ideas once January rolls around.

Though I don't yet have any shows scheduled for 2008, I will be making a lot of work and spending some time seeking exhibition opportunities.  Plus there will be plenty of big news anticipated so please keep checking my web site, blog, and make sure you're signed up to receive my e-newsletter so you don't miss a brush stroke.  Happy New Year!

Wedding Cake Portraits get their own web site.

Watch for the launch of
www.WeddingCakePortraits.com around Valentine's Day.  I hired Chaves Design, who's worked on the Smithsonian and NPR web sites and teaches at Corcoran College of Art & Design, to design an online showcase of my works devoted to the representation of the decadent edible sculptures savored at weddings.

Since promoting this service in September, I have completed one commissioned piece for a Christmas gift and am currently working on my friend's cake.

Wedding Cake Portrait Example

Noreen of Sussex County, NJ, called me on Thanksgiving weekend to request a wedding cake portrait for Christmas.  I assured Noreen that she could complete her order in time for Christmas.

Noreen saw my brochures at the Peters Valley Craft Fair and thought on the purchase for a few months before deciding to go forward.  The gift was for her daughter and son-in-law who will celebrate their 4th anniversary in March.

The final piece, depicted above, was executed in Oil Pastel on 12" x 16" Arches paper.  Noreen was thrilled with the work and I'm awaiting reaction from the recipients after they open their gift on Christmas day.

Orders for Wedding Cake Portraits will be accepted starting February 1st.

Email orders@traillworks.com to inquire about a commission.

A Charitable Opportunity
Into Our Home:
An Open Studio and Sale
TraillWorks | Newton | NJ  November 3rd
Wow!  In addition to the great sales, gourmet food, and fantastic turnout, I was able to donate over $500 to the Kaleidoscope of Hope Foundation for ovarian cancer research in Madison, NJ thanks to the generosity of all who purchased my work that day.

I will definitely hold an event like this in the future.  Over 23 people attended from 1 - 3 in the afternoon.  The house was alive with terrific energy and it gave guests an opportunity to see what my art looks like in a real home.

During the open studio, guests nibbled on delicious hors d'oeuvres and desserts, along with wine and cider prepared by Heide Hassing and Rachel Jemison.
