W e d d i n g Cake Portraits...
Jennie would like to thank all of the
fantastic brides who came out to the bridal show on Monday, October 11th
at the Hunterdon Hills Playhouse.
Read Some Wedding Cake Portrait Love:
"The
painting of my wedding cake was so perfect. I can't begin to tell you
how wonderful it truly is. My sister gave me our painting as our
wedding gift, and I love how you incorporated parts of my wedding dress,
the roses, and the true feeling that my wedding gives me. It is such a
memorable and perfect gift. Looking at the painting (it is hung in a
place where I can gaze at it perfectly!)makes me remember that day with
such a smile (and a choked up throat!). It's hard to believe you
weren't there!
Thanks again, I sincerely appreciate and love your work!"

I n s i d e the Artist's Studio...
Teacups, Aprons, and Hoosiers
The first commission Jennie has been working on is a gift from one of her adult students and her two
sisters to their mom for Christmas. Her mom has a collection of prized
teacups, and was, and still is an apron-wearer. The student actually
stole her threadbare, everyday apron, and the lavender gingham and
organza seen below, and shot several photos from a variety of angles of
three selected teacups.
After
several different sketches, Jennie came up with the one below arranging
the
teacups in a more dynamic, asymmetrical composition, playing with
different points of view, all featured on the organza apron. Continue
to read more about this commission as well as others on Jennie's blog here.
The student studio at
TraillWorks is getting geared up for the holidays. This year some of
TraillWorks' younger students will be designing
logos to represent the shops on along Spring Street for a Candy Land
themed scavenger hunt set to be part of the Newton Holiday Parade on
Saturday, November 27th. Students will also have their hand at making
the holiday windows which are being designed by students Jake Scordato,
Alyse Delaney, and Emily Haag. Jennie will be writing more about the holiday projects soon, but in the meantime, read it in her most recent Student Saturday blog post here, set to post this Saturday.
A Family Affair - A few of the students at TraillWorks are families. Below are some works by the Manning family.
Adult student, Tina Manning, works on her oil
painting of Spring Street. Tina
and her two daughters have continued to improve each week while taking
lessons at TraillWorks. Their energy and creative thinking is
inspiring... thank you for making TraillWorks your creative outlet!
The charcoal drawings below are done by Tina's daughters,
Hannah and Niki Manning.
R e m e m b e r i n g... a Friend and Artist
"My last, fondest memory of Tony is when I relocated my studio earlier
this year. I was still getting my new place ready and he stopped by for a
visit, while driving his red Empire around town to take pictures for a
book project he was working on. I jumped on the opportunity, learning
from Tony, and invited him to bring it in and take pictures of it at
TraillWorks. We had an impromptu studio shoot, Ringo on hand and in
photos. He was so full of life, excitement. I don't recall what we
talked about but I will cherish that day as it was one of the last great
memories of Tony; breezing in and out with his art."
