"David Ohlerking Paints Newton"
December 4th - January 29
David's opening reception on Saturday night was a big success. Santa stopped by for a visit, as well as many faithful followers of the artists. Congratulations goes out to him on the sale of one of his paintings! To this date, TraillWorks has sold four of his pieces.
Paintings by artist, David Ohlerking, currently on display at TraillWorks
are expressive, colorful cityscapes painted on site in Newton, NJ,
with others representing New Hope, Stroudsburg, Doylestown, PA, and Washington, Chester, and Ocean City, NJ. Included in the show are about
twenty-five works, ranging in size from affordable twelve inch square
pieces to larger, more substantial works.
Small works begin at $200.
Give the gift of a David Ohlerking original!
Commissions Update from Jennie:
I've been fortunate to receive several commissions for the holiday season and 2010. Corrie's been updating you in the past few newsletters about my progress. One of my commissions was scheduled earlier this year and I'm going to be starting it soon; my client and I had many extenuating circumstances and change to the direction of the commission which has slowed its start (on my plate soon, Chris!).
In the meantime, I have finished the first of two commissions with a Christmas deadline. The second is ready to begin on the easel, likely tomorrow. You can follow on Facebook as I post its progress.
The three images below show the painting, Teatime Collection, in its early stages, showing the underpainting (a monochromatic thin layer of paint that indicates tone and composition). In the second photo, the painting is almost complete, but the apron trim wasn't yet finished and I hasn't thrilled with the darkness of the accent pieces on the apron.
Final image, completed painting. This was a pretty neat piece to paint; lots of reflective surfaces and colors I typically don't use - lavender and lemon yellow! I know that June's mom is delighted by it as she was in the studio to see it prior its completion.

We are hoping everyone is enjoying their holiday season thus
far, and spirits are high! Tis' the season to share the wealth and give
what you can to those around you, especially those in need. Below are some current and recent charity events TraillWorks has been involved with this month...
- TraillWorks participated in Newton's Project
Self-Sufficiency Holiday Market to help benefit low-income families on
December 3 from 4 PM to Midnight. The $10 entrance fee and 10 percent of the evening's proceeds went to support Project Self-Sufficiency's holiday toy drive. The event was sponsored by George's Wine & Gourmet Gallery, Wards Flowers & Gifts and Project Self-Sufficiency.
- Give the Gift of Warmth at TraillWorks!
We will be collecting coats, hats, and mittens through the 17th of December for the Gift of Warmth drive sponsored by the United Way and NJ Herald. For each person who donates, we will extend 10% off your next purchase at TraillWorks. Please consider dropping one off. There's been a lot of news about the decline in donations for those in need and there are many out there. I just heard this story on NPR about the tone of letters to Santa changing from greed to need for necessities. We'll collect through tomorrow.
