With a 3 1/2-year old at home and the past four months spent working on a large mural commission, the summer hasn't felt so lazy! Normally I'm eager for the change of seasons, but this year I would like Summer to last a bit longer. I'm looking forward to a few long lazy weekends before changing the calendar.

Before we flip to September, savor some of the Summer at TraillWorks with one more week of our Contemporary Landscapes Exhibit. We're also offering many special incentives on workshop and lesson enrollment, artisan jewelry, and art purchases. Also please take note below of some changes to our hours. Enjoy the rest of your lazy summer and I hope to see you at TraillWorks really soon!

 Student Accolades
Our students at TraillWorks do remarkable things both inside the studio and out. We hope to share with you their accomplishments. This spring, former student, Helen Walter-Cardinal, was notified that she was accepted to both Syracuse University and RPI for study in architecture. I'm so proud of her accomplishments as she worked with me to put together a strong portfolio in only 8 months time. While I would have loved her to attend SU, my alma mater, she has chosen RPI. Additionally, she will be taking a gap year and traveling to Paris through a Speedwell Foundation Scholarship, sponsored by the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE). She will study the language and culture of France, while doing community service. It's a tremendous opportunity for any student and I wish her the best of luck. Read more about the scholarship, follow this url: http://www.patersondiocese.org/pdf/beacon/5242012_5.pdf?CFID=97358&CFTOKEN=40313368
I'd like to also commend Vaughn and Levi Burnell for entering their work in the art exhibit at the NJ State Fair. To top it off, Vaughn received Honorable Mention for his "Harry" drawing he completed with me. See the drawing below - a mixed media piece depicting a fantasy scene of Harry dreaming. You can see their work in the Richards Building through the end of the fair on Sunday. Congratulations Vaughn!

Seeing the Light at the End of the Tunnel

For four months, I have been working mornings, evenings, weekends - weather dependent - on the largest project of my life. Never before have I taken on something of such scale or duration. I'm constantly amazed at my accomplishments and am so ever grateful for all of your support and comments. I'm getting closer to the finish line and we've even started discussing plans for a dedication ceremony. It's possible this might be finished by next week, but stay tuned on Facebook for posting of the last window - the Ascension and Resurrection. I won't reveal the entire completed mural until the dedication ceremony. It's likely to be a public event, so you'd better be there!
To watch the project finish, visit our Facebook page.

CHANGES
STAFF / INTERNS
We'd like to extend best wishes to outgoing intern, Sarah Cannavale as she returns to Drew University for the Fall semester to continue her studies in art history. She has been an integral component at TraillWorks this summer, responsible largely for getting our Fall workshops scheduled - stay tuned, more are being added soon.
We'd also like to wish former employee, Kassandra Talmadge, well in her future endeavors as she has taken another position in the Newton area. Her design work at TraillWorks has been much-appreciated over the past year and a half. We will miss her.

HOURS
Lastly, we will no longer be able to remain open late on Thursdays and Fridays and will be closed on Sundays through August. TraillWorks has been a staunch supporter of late night shopping over the past four years, but can no longer justify the committment. We do hope to be open for Theatre performances, when possible, and with your support, hope to resume those hours in the future.
