Dear ,
It's easy to focus on the negative when you've spent the
first half of January nursing the flu, strep throat and sick kids (my reality for the past month). But the reality is, I've had some good rest time, quality time with my kids, and somehow still managed to accomplish some interesting things with my artwork! Despite loss of work days, art lessons canceled due to illness and snow, TraillWorks has gotten some great press, enrolled new students, launched a new web site, and is offering a Valentine's Day promotion that might interest all of those
Wedding Cake fans.
So, while you're home enjoying what's left of your snow day, take a few minutes to catch up on what's going on in my studio over a warm beverage!
Creatively, Jennie
Eat your Cake and Have it, Too with a New Website |
You may have been wondering where my site went for Wedding Cake Portraits, or didn't even know that I paint them. Now a new site has been launched, with a simpler, cleaner design and easier navigation to really show off my portraits. If you're a former collector, please send me a testimonial to add to the site!

Ex-Voto Personal Storytelling With A Wedding Cake Portrait In
the early part of 2008, still in the trenches planning the Delaware River Food + Wine Festival for that fall, I had heard of an artist who had gained some notoriety for creating a series of sainted kitchen appliances and aprons…the exact subject matter this Julia Child-admiring, vintage-apron-collecting, recent-Kitchen-Aid-owner was interested in. I knew I had to meet her.

Sometimes things come easily to me, other days they don't. I'm thrilled to announce that I was selected as January's Featured Artist on the popular food-themed art blog, ArtAndArtDeadlines.com. As my son would say, this was "easy peasy lemon squeezy!" Yes, the actual
submission process was simple, but my work had to be chosen. And, while everything up to that point is easy, to have your work chosen is much more complicated. Several things had to have been put in place in order for this to happen: one being years of hard work, two being good artwork, and three putting yourself out there and finding opportunities. Those three things collided when I saw this opportunity, took the leap to submit and awaited the response I was hoping for, but might not always
get.

February Lessons Begin this Week; Still Room for You! |
There are three art class offerings with space for you if you've been thinking about enrolling yourself, a teen, or a child. My Winter session began in January with more students than I've had since moving to West Orange! I have an adult session on Tuesday mornings, a
children's group on Wednesday afternoons and a teen group on Saturday mornings. Of course, if you were interested in a private lesson, I have room in my schedule.
