New on the Blog: An Artful Summer with TraillWorks
Summer art lessons and workshops finished off a few weeks ago with these fruits of my students' labors. I had the fullest teaching schedule I've experienced since closing my Newton studio, enrolling several new students in a part-time summer drawing camp, an after-camp art class, and a watercolor workshop. Since putting my youngest in part-time childcare, I've been able to promote my lessons to a wider audience and offer more sessions.

These are just the tip of the iceberg from the summer . . .

    Tuesdays - Painting in Watercolor
    9:30 - 11:30am, 9/29 - 12/1
    10 Sessions
    Adults
    LOCATION: Work & Play

Enrich yourself artistically with a workshop designed to allow you to explore the art of painting in watercolor. This is an affordable and accessible medium that you can participate in with little investment and you don’t need a studio at home to create in watercolors. We will begin the workshop with some basics about painting in watercolor and each week build on your skills, eventually exploring ways of including collage and mixed media in your watercolors. The entire workshop will be focused on creating in a watercolor pad (similar to a sketchbook that is portable and easy to store).

Wednesdays- Taking Watercolor & Drawing Further
    7:30 - 9:30pm, 9/16 - 12/9
    10 Sessions

Students will work on independent projects that are focused on drawing or painting or both, based on each student’s interest. Beginner students will be guided through basic painting and drawing processes that include perception, values, contrast, and paint handling, while more advanced students will develop a direction in their work, honing media and exploring composition and subject matter. Students will be encouraged to work at their own pace.

    Thursdays - jumpstART
    9:30 - 11:30am
    Adults
    LOCATION: TraillWorks

Learn to replace the fear of making art with confidence to get back to creating. jumpstART is meant to support adults, both beginners and experienced artists, who need a more intimate environment to get going. My approach is a mixture of nurture and constructive criticism, and a lot of communication. Where we go from the beginning becomes a journey we take together; with work and commitment to your practice you will eventually develop a direction or vision for your work. Possible media includes but is not limited to: oils, acrylics, tempera, graphite, charcoal, collage, and mixed media.

    Teens
    LOCATION: TraillWorks

Geared towards students who are considering attending art school in the future, this session offers the same individualized attention to each student. Jennie consults with new students and reviews existing works to determine a direction for future work. She also helps guide students who are closer to college application in goal-setting and researching schools. Should interest exist, a session could be offered on a weekday from 4 - 5pm. I have availability on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. Please contact me with your interest.

*There is interest in this time slot for younger students. Due to the small size of classes and the demand for this time period, ages may be mixed together, but only with the approval of all parties.
