Dear ,
My gratitude is overflowing for all of the amazing family, friends, collectors and students that I have in my life. I'm especially thankful for my husband's support in my artistic endeavors which have allowed me to get back into the studio. As we creep up on yet another Thanksgiving, I'm being
mindful of the moment and trying not to get swept up in the rush of what's to come in December. I told my son the other day, that when I was a kid, they didn't start decorating for Christmas until AFTER Thanksgiving! I remember the excitement of watching for the installation of the wooden soldiers outside of the old Hess' department store, but always after we had plenty of focus on our family Thanksgiving celebrations. So, keeping the tradition alive, I'm going to keep this email to the
message of Thanksgiving.
Check your inbox over the weekend, AFTER Thanksgiving, for news and specials for the month of December. I wish you, your family, and friends a warm, safe, and Happy Thanksgiving!
Creatively and Thankfully, Jennie

A Gift Becomes a Painting |
Several years ago, a couple walked into my gallery in Newton, fell in love with one of my paintings on site and purchased the work for their home in Morris County.
I was out of town the weekend they stopped by and did not have the opportunity to meet them in person, until about a year later when they made another visit.
My client brought with her something very special that she wanted me to have: a silver spoon. When I opened the box and
looked at the sterling silver spoon, I noticed the engraving was my name, Jennie. She had told me about her grandmother, Jennie Robinson Byrne, who was born in Illinois in 1871. My client did not have children and because of the name on the spoon, she wanted me to have it. I was completely touched. Frequently, my collectors end up becoming friends and have done amazing things for me.

JUMPSTART is a program that I've branded for adult students who have for whatever reason gotten away from their art-making.
Maybe they have stopped producing work while raising children, or have been focused on lucrative employment, but what they have in common is an interest in making work and a fear to get going again. I've started working with two adult students from my neighborhood over the last month and they and I are finding it so nourishing that they are both extending their sessions. I'm teaching Tuesday mornings in my studio and am so grateful for the opportunity to work with them! Thank you ladies!

Giving Gregory Students a Meditative Art
Experience |
My son is lucky to be attending a school in West Orange, NJ, that places value in the well-being of its students and has a very active PTA which offers enriching programs. Recently, they organized a Healthy, Happy Kids Night, where numerous service providers, parent volunteers, and organizations offered activities ranging from
juicing to zumba. I offered to facilitate the creation of "handalas", which is a mandala constructed from hands. Thank you to former exhibiting TraillWorks' artist, Ron Hornung, for introducing this project to me. I spent two hours guiding students and parents in the making of the Handalas, talking about the history of mandalas and the value of making meditative art. The finished "handalas" are slated to be
hung somewhere in the school. If you'd like to learn how to make a "handala" at home, you can get a FREE download by visiting TraillWorks: the Blog. You might also enjoy reading this article from the Huffington Post about the value of coloring in reducing adults'
stress.
