Jennie Traill Schaeffer: Teaching Artist
Dear ,

Happy April! I'm so grateful spring is in the air. I took Joel for a run the other day and as we jogged by the blossoming palette of pinks on the trees, I named the cherry trees, crabapple trees, and dogwoods. I'm not an arborist, but I think the brilliant colors on these trees have helped me cement their identities. It's amazing how color sticks with you.

Along with that burst of color, so much is popping in the next month at TraillWorks. There are several exhibits ending and beginning, this week and next. We are in the midst of Spring art classes and a growing enrollment. Mother's Day is around the corner and I have a few gift suggestions. And, I'm embarking on some big changes for TraillWorks: shifting my marketing, redesigning my web site, and possibly offering some summer art classes.

With that shift, I'm going to begin a monthly newsletter which will overview everything that's going on, along with some occasional timely e-blasts. The rest of the work will be gradual and slow, so bear with me. I hope you'll continue to follow this journey of mine, which wouldn't exist without you! And, if you enjoy it so much, please share it with your friends.

Creatively,

Art Lesson News
There are still a few spaces remaining in some of my classes for kids, teens and adults. With just about 6 weeks, give or take, remaining, it's a great time to try it out. Explore the class schedules and then contact me for availability. I'm currently working on programming for summer. I'll be sure to notify you once a schedule is firmed up.

Still not sure? Here's what one of my newest adult students is saying about my teaching:

"Don't know how to let go yet @traillworks. I have the best teacher, that's all I need to                 know for now. Feeling blessed."

If you'd like to follow what my students are working on, I've started a new Instagram feed that will focus solely on student work and classes. So hop on over and explore the ideas, tips, and works being created. Maybe it will inspire you to join in!

Learn More about ARTaments
I recently worked with a local editor who has graced me with three short videos. So I'll be sharing them on my blog and in my newsletter. The first is the back story behind my ARTaments. And, I recently wrote more about them on my blog, along with sharing a recently commissioned piece featuring an adorable toddler. READ MORE

Giving Back
This has always been an important aspect of my business. I'm pleased to announce that during the month of March, I made one artwork sale, of my original painting, Jersey Blues. During March (which happened to be Women's History Month and also included International Woman's Day) I started a campaign to raise awareness of the gender pay gap in the US, which happens to stand at 21%. My initiative was to donate 21% of art sales to an organization in Paterson, NJ, which aims to help women and children become self-sufficient. With that sale, I'm donating $92.41 to Oasis: A Haven for Women & Children. They've invited me to present my check in person, which I plan to do sometime in May. Hopefully I'll have news to share in my next newsletter. Keep an eye out!
