Jennie Traill Schaeffer: Teaching Artist

Dear ,

Oh my, oh my! January has come and gone, Valentine's Day is next week, and I've missed writing to you! We've had numerous illnesses and one concussion in my household this past month. Everyone is on the mend, but it has been one heck of a start to the year. Suffice it to say, sending out emails and organizing my marketing for 2018 has taken a back seat.

But, I'm thrilled to announce several new changes to my business that organically happened. I've managed to do a lot of soul searching on my web site, after years of wanting to update it. I'm happy to say I'm in the midst of making many, hopefully positive improvements to the look, function and content of traillworks.com

As you get a moment over the weekend, scroll around, explore. See what's new (HINT - new watercolors available, a rebranded blog, and new features to the home page). You can scroll down for more info and click through to the site.
XOXOXO,

Introducing "The Teaching Artist"
I've rebranded my blog, titled "The Teaching Artist" after I had an epiphany about everything I'm aiming to develop both in my own art and in my teaching. I've realized that they are inextricably intertwined; one feeds the other. The above quote by Richard Bach, author of Jonathan Livingston Seagull, "You teach best what you most need to learn," speaks volumes to me. You can read my newest post detailing how I will aim to show the connections between my teaching and my art. If you'd like to follow along - subscribe to the feed so you get updates.

Spring Art Lessons Enrolling Soon
Winter lessons have been going strong. We've been enjoying the winter light to create important and courageous works. The above three pieces were just recently finished. From left to right, an abstract watercolor by an adult student, a rubber duck piece by a new Tween student completed in marker and colored pencil, and a Teen student's first acrylic painting featuring my ceramic bunny. Keep an eye out for an email coming soon announcing the Spring schedule and the opening of enrollment.

Don't forget about my new Instagram feed, dedicated to art classes, where you can catch more of what my students are working on.

10% Size Upgrade on a Wedding Cake Portrait
This has been the largest Wedding Cake Portrait I've had the honor to paint. It's been in progress since last summer, and I'm happy to say it is almost completed; hoping to make it in time for Valentine's Day! If you've been considering a Wedding Cake Portrait for your spouse or a special couple, I have availability to take on a new commission after Valentine's Day. The first patron to book a Wedding Cake Portrait for 2018 will enjoy a 10% size upgrade. Email me ASAP.

PS: I have lots of art available in my studio / online for last - minute Valentine's gifts. Hope over to my web site to peruse. You're always welcome to visit in person to the studio. Email me to make an appointment to stop by or browse my online store
