Dear ,
May already, say it isn't so! I'm venturing into the celebration of my youngest son's 6th Birthday! Oh my goodness. Some of you have been following me now for more than a decade - through the ups and downs, births of two sons, and changes in business structure and location. I began this venture in 2005 and I'm still here doing what I love.
I want to extend an absolutely BIG THANK YOU to all of you who purchased work in February and March during my BIG STUDIO SALE. There's a blog post about it - you can find an excerpt and read more about it below. There's also so much below about AVAILABLE ART, SUMMER WATERCOLOR CLASSES, and MAY EVENTS. I was going to open up sales of my TeaScapes online, but I've run out of time to do so before getting
this email out in a timely fashion. So, I will send out a separate email announcing just those in the next week.
But before you continue down the newsletter I want to share something very important. Did you know that May is Mental Health Awareness Month? I'm including a PSA about Mental Health that covers some very real statistics that you may not be aware of. I know this may be a trigger for some, so I've decided to move the list, along with resources, to the bottom of the email. You can choose to skip it
if you need to. I hope that you won't, but completely understand if you do.
I don't often share non-art related topics, but this does impact my art and who I am in so many ways. It's too important not to share - the health of our whole selves depends on it.
Louie, Louie - A Dachshund for YOU?
|
Oh, Louie Louie . . . could be yours! A client long, long ago, in a far off land . . . ok, when I lived in Sussex County, commissioned this portrait of a Dachshund and never returned to make the final payment. Numerous letters and
communications were sent out, including a certified letter, but the buyer never came back to finish the payments and pick up the work. His loss, your gain?
It may not be your exact dog, but if you're a lover of Dachshunds, wouldn't you want to stare at those precious eyes and imagine getting licked all over by that tongue? This furry pal, painted on linen on 2" deep stretchers could be yours. Sized at 16" x 20" it's a substantial piece, and since the buyer paid the initial deposit, I'm only asking $450 for the painting - 50% of the full value.
Remember, you're on my mailing list so you're getting first dibs. If Louie is not spoken for as of Friday, he will be offered to the general public. You can also check out my large ongoing commission of several dogs on my Instagram feed - I've completed two oil paintings, embarking on a third, and two drawings.

A Successful Studio Sale Yields Donation
During the month of February, I held a studio sale to accomplish three things: clear out old work that was no longer serving me, create space for new work both physically and in my mind, and to raise money for a local charity. BAM! BAM! BAM! We did it! And, I just sent a check to the Mental Health Association of Essex and Morris in time for Mental Health Awareness month.
Taking Orders for Blueberry Prints
|
June's Pearls, my very successful print of a watercolor featuring ripening blueberries, will be available at the show on May 11th. But, in the interim, I'm putting a print order into my printer this week. If you'd like to be added to that
order, go ahead and reserve a copy. It's a limited run of 25 and I'm halfway to selling out.

Mental Health Stats & Resources
|
- 1 in 5 Americans has a mental health condition.
- Only 41% of adults in the US with a mental health condition received mental health services in the past year.
- 50% of all lifetime cases of mental illness begin by age 14.
- 20% of youth ages 13 - 18 live with a mental health condition.
- Suicide is the 3rd leading cause fo death in young people ages 10 - 24.
- 6.9% of adults in America (16 million) live with Major Depressive Disorder.
- Depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide.
This is partly why I gave to the Mental Health Association of Essex and Morris a local organization that is part of as a part of my studio sale. This is important to me on a personal level and I hope that you'll find it either alarming, valuable, or a motivator to do something - whether you need help or you know someone who does, or are in a position to give of your time or financial contributions to
organizations that advocate or provide resources and support. Another national organization that provides screening tools, information about mental illnesses, supports and more is MHA (Mental Health America).
During the month of May, I'll be adding adding posts in my Instagram Stories with the hashtag #4mind4body about
how I use animal companionship, spirituality / religion, humor, work life balance, social connections and recreation to keep my mental health in check. I'd encourage you to do the same if you're a social media user - get in the conversation about mental health - tag me @traillworks to share your tools for supporting your own mental health - everyone needs it!
