Hi there ,
I'm finally able to sit in front of my computer for a little bit and send a hello from North Carolina! We've officially been here for just over 3 weeks - I almost can't believe it. I hear that from many of my friends, too.
I've never moved outside of the Northeast, let alone the PA/NJ/NY area - except for a semester in Italy. This was something else entirely - getting a house / studio packed in a very short period of time, buying / selling a house, picking a place to move to where we know no one, and adjusting kids - I liken it to what it might feel like moving to another country. So much blind
faith and trust in the process.
In that short time, I was able to offer you a last-minute opportunity to collect my work before I left NJ. WOW - I was blown away by your presence and purchases. I'm including some photos below of just a few of the lucky collectors who came by in person, and some art hung in new homes. THANK YOU ALL for attending, saying goodbyes (or just see you soons), and stopping by. THANK YOU
ALSO to those who purchased remotely. I was utterly humbled.
If you are still interested in my work, please don't fret - I'm adept at shipping! And, we have the beauty of technology to connect us. My artwork is still in boxes and I'm not sure where each individual work is - but bear with me, soon my online shop will be accepting orders again.
The studio has been on pause despite its importance and the growing need I'm starting to feel to create. Getting the family adjusted has been #1. Additionally, my studio has some permitting issues from prior owners and I'm weighing the addition of a closet, skylights and vinyl floors, while we get everything up to code. Hmmm . . .
Meanwhile, I've begun reaching out to existing students to consider restarting some classes, and commission clients to begin work, in the space as it is. You may start to see drips of work developing, but it probably won't be in any full capacity until the kids are back in school.
Tidbits of our adventures are in my stories on Facebook / Instagram - check there to see what we've been up to. Lots of exploring Durham, and most recently, a state park in the mountains of NC. I hope you'll continue to follow both my family's adventures and the development of my artistic practice down south - finding something that sparks your creative juices or collector's spirit!
