There are many reasons to feel hopeful and excited for 2021, even if still a bit tempered. But, I'm still in the process of reviewing 2020, and am not quite ready to turn the calendar. EVERYTHING in my life has
taken extra time this year, and while I don't want all the negativity of 2020 to linger, I feel like I need just a bit more time. I'm doing a year end review with art biz coach, Alyson Stanfield, and I'm not near finished. Alas - I have no control over time and that calendar will joyfully "flip" tonight and we will belt
out, Auld Lang Syne.Â
Â
Meanwhile, this is what Top Nine put together of a review of my work - and I have to agree there are some standouts here, that do relate to many successes and positive experiences from
2020.Â
- My inclusion in a show at the Montclair Art Museum.
- Curiosity about painting flowers, which led to a workshop in my backyard in collaboration with Wildly Floral, and a watercolor painting which was sold to artist / collector, Sybil Archibald.Â
- Explorations of chairs as a solitary object, which started as a gift to honor the opening of The Write Space (a dear friend's cowriting space) then ended up selling out the small series through the Candy Club Collective hosted by friend / artist, Katrina Berg.Â
- Exploring nature locally more often, and seeing it impact my work. Oh gosh - it wasn't included, but I took a monumental trip to Montana in March, pre-Covid. More on that later.Â
- Completion of several dog portraits -
two larger ones in oil.Â
- And, at the end of the day, the support of these two handsome boys and one dashing, loving, and supportive husband - without which I would be empty.Â
If you're following me on social media, I'll be posting my personally curated top 9 artworks over the next few days. 2020 was by far a challenge, and
I'm grateful that my loved ones and friends are still with me, that we are surviving. I know it hasn't been this easy for many. I'm deeply aware of where I am at this point and why. I owe a debt of gratitude to many of you who have helped get me through this year - not easy for sure. But, definitely many events, experiences, and creations that made 2020 a necessary stepping stone for me and my work.Â
Â
Happy New Year to you. May you find health, peace, and space to be more free in 2021.
Â
THANK YOU!

PS - I'll be sending out a follow up newsletter early next week with some news for 2021 - hopefully art class schedules and commission announcements.Â
