I'm currently feeling
grateful for our new HVAC system, which is humming away in the background. I've spent most of the day indoors, working on a newsletter and conserving energy to support the grid. It's currently a real feel of 114 degrees outside, so I plan on cooling off at the pool later.
Last week, I had an idea to offer dog portrait commissions and partner with a local animal shelter in August. Coincidentally, August 1st is Dogust Day, which celebrates rescue and shelter dogs' birthdays. It's the perfect timing!
After speaking with Durham's animal shelter events and communications manager and her eagerness to partner with me, I decided to move forward with the plan. Looking back at my website and image files, I noticed that my dog portraits were popular before the pandemic but declined until my most recent one in 2022.
Now that my studio is up and running again,
I'm excited to paint or draw some of your pets' wet noses, furry paws, and goofy puppy dog eyes. Oooh, and if you book in August, I guarantee completion by the end of the year.
