Hi there , I just got home
from the Durham Holiday Parade and I'm feeling energized and festive! There was so much joy - between the marching bands (including my son's high school) the parade was filled with dance troupes, community organizations, historic cars, the Loving Community of Sardiniers (I have no idea), and Two Guys with a Banner (and this is quite literal) - my heart and mind are exploding. Gosh do we all need a dose of being in community together. I hope you have an opportunity to find one or more joy-filled community events over the next few weeks. If you haven't scheduled something, please take the
leap, it's worth it! I still have some comp coaching sessions available next week. Check out my Calendly to schedule
time with me. I will be putting together more info soon on art learning opportunities to be in community; stay tuned. I had the chance to be in community with you all on December 2nd Zooming from my studio. If you missed my Virtual Open Studio event read below for highlights, and scroll all the way down for outtakes from an impromptu photo shoot! Don't forget the art! You still have several ways of collecting/gifting my art before year's end - either through art purchased directly through me, supporting Art For All in work purchased through their Annual Fundraiser Auction, or from Casa Bella Market. Holiday orders purchased directly through me will close on December
16th. May you find JOY and PEACE in your life - maybe through ART!
VIRTUAL OPEN STUDIO HIGHLIGHTS
I had the most enlightening conversation on December 2nd. Ideas and questions were raised that were so thought-provoking for me. My only regret, that I didn't record
it! But, here are some of the highlights, or really questions that I wrote down after I did an
overview of the work and how it has arrived at this point: - Am I expressing comfort or trying to create a more unsettling sense? I would say yes, to both!
- Is there a significance to the womb chair vs. other chairs? Yes - I'm choosing it for its representation of comfort and
protection. But, I'm not restrictive to depicting ONLY womb chairs.
- Maybe I might consider depicting movement or a different perspective of the chairs - suggesting the moment before settling in. Yes - such a great idea!
I'd hope to offer this event again in the future. It gave the attendees an opportunity to really delve deep into my work, see the work close up and get a broader sense of what I'm building. Missed it? Let me know if you'd like to attend in the future! Send me an email.
This piece is hot off the easel, and I couldn't be happier with it! Completed just last week, I still don't have proper photos - but this gives you an idea of the
painting. It's a bit muted in color on my screen from the original photo. This is the second finished oil in the Take a Seat series of works and is a departure from the tea packages - not a one to be found. This is all pure oil paint. I was rusty when I began, but with much support from other artists and a Crit Crew I was a part of - it took off. ABOUT: Womb Chair Tethered over Horton Grove (working title) Oil on Gessobord, Unframed (edges will be finished with wax furniture paste) Framing is additional 11" x 14" $500 Interested? Send me a message and let me know
that you're really intrigued. I haven't gotten it uploaded to my store, but happy to arrange a sale beforehand if the universe commands it!
The All Arts Welcome Art Auction to benefit Raleigh-based non-profit, Art For All is LIVE! I have 5 pieces that are available for auction. Three are
Garden Watercolors and two are from my Take a Seat series. You can bid on the works NOW, or purchase in person at the live event next Saturday (from the remaining works). So, if you have to have something, bid early. If you want to support my work AND an organization that designs opportunities to "CREATE ART, BUILD COMMUNITY, SUPPORT THE GREATER GOOD" look no further.
