Hi there , I'm going to attempt to be straight up, in a way I haven't before. I've been doing business as an artist for over 20 years. I'm at a crossroads ⛌ which is pretty cloudy ☁️ right now, but needs some immediate support
🫶. I've always heard don't sound desperate, manifest your vision, but when you're at moments like this, I think being HONEST is the best way forward. My spouse was laid off from his job this summer and has not yet secured a position. I've been exploring and applying to full time positions since January; landed four interviews, was offered one position which is contracted and limited in both income and time. Now, we are in crunch mode - I've taken on a few commissions, have two new private coaching students, and am teaching one day at week outside my home. It's not enough. I'm at a point of needing to next level🪜TraillWorks (more on that below) or I NEED a full time
position. How does this relate to you? Well you've been
following me, supporting me, taking classes or interested in my work. I'm hoping you've gotten a sense of who I am and now couldn't be a better time to get deeper. If you have connections with jobs that might be suited to me (or my spouse), I'm all ears and can connect with you on LinkedIn . OR, if you've been eyeing 👀 a painting, or wanting to dive into classes or coaching, please sign up or browse my site to make a purchase. If you have marketing and business growth
supports, I'd love to chat. Lastly, I have an opportunity to travel to Houston to learn
more about arts and healing. I have 24 hours to raise $800 to commit to go!!!! More info below. I'm open to suggestions, ideas💡, or conversations🗣️, because my family needs to move forward in a supported financial way and the job market is scary right now. Creatively,
Come Watercolor at the Eno!
It's back! After a one day workshop last fall, I've created a 3-week series of classes designed to help you Create and Connect in Nature! And, I'm offering two options - a Tuesday morning, and a Saturday afternoon. Choose the one that works for you! The heat is gone and fall is upon us, a great time to get outside, learn to paint and connect with other students. Under the canopy of the trees surrounding the Eno River, breathing in nature, listening to the sound of the river,
we'll explore ways of working in watercolor en plein air. While this isn't true "forest bathing", being in the forest is shown to lower blood pressure and cortisol levels. Making art also provides some of the same benefits. We will explore working at different paces to capture the essence of our environment, on smaller formats, with portable supplies - working in a sketchbook on exercises - the aim being to get you comfortable painting within the forest. A supply list and general recommendations
for enjoying your time painting in nature will be sent out upon enrollment. DATES: Tuesdays, 9:30 - 11:30am: 10/8, 10/15, 10/22 OR Saturdays, 2 - 4pm: 10/12, 10/19, 11/2 *Note skipped week
AGES: Adults and Teens LOCATION: West Point on the Eno, 5101 N. Roxboro Street, Durham, NC RATES: $140 / 3 Weeks $45 drop in A minimum of 3 full price students are needed to run the
class. ***If cost is a barrier, please contact me so we can discuss payment options. DEADLINE to ENROLL - 10/1

HELP SEND ME TO NOAHCon - FAST!
I need to raise $800 in 24 hours!!!! I'm thrilled to share that I've
been offered a partial scholarship to fund my attendance at the National Organization for Arts in Health's 8th Annual Convention. What did you say? This is an interesting story
- I've been following the movement of social prescribing and arts, healing, and loneliness since becoming more active on LinkedIn. I learned about NOAH, which was founded in 2016, but has roots going back to 1989 in Durham. Through this discovery, I've also started networking with another teaching artist, Beth Palmer, who was involved in their early years and lives in Durham. She and I have been talking about attending NOAH's conference this year and she encouraged me to apply for a
scholarship. GOOD NEWS! I was accepted, partially. Which
means, I will owe $120 out of the $680 that includes the two-day conference, as well as a virtual day in November. However, that expense doesn't include airfare, lodging, meals, and other transportation and events. I already have a gracious aunt offering me flight miles to get me to and from Houston. I'm estimating it will cost me an added $800 out of pocket which includes the scholarship balance, an extra out of pocket hotel night, food and transportation expenses. WANT TO SUPPORT THIS TRIP which will undoubtedly enrich my teaching, allow
me to network with teaching artists, health professionals, and other stakeholders in arts and healing, and ultimately find new avenues to support healing through my business? Timing is of the essence, because I need to tell NOAH by 9/26 if I'm attending or not. So, I need to raise $800 in 24 hours essentially. You can help me, and I'll reward you! And, of course, I'll come back with lessons and ideas to share. TRIP ANGEL 👼: Fund the full amount ($800) and I will honor the gift with a
commissioned painting or completed available painting in kind. This could be a dog portrait, home portrait, or wedding cake portrait. Equivalent to an 11" x 14" oil painting, shipping included. FOOD ANGEL: Fund the cost of my meals with a $250 contribution. Receive a hand-signed print of a recent watercolor, painted during the fall in Durham last year. TRAVEL ANGEL: Fund the cost of my rental car with a $220 contribution. Receive a hand-signed print of a recent watercolor, painted during the fall in Durham last year. HOTEL ANGEL: Fund the cost of one night's stay with a $200 contribution. Receive a hand-signed print of a recent watercolor,
painted during the fall in Durham last year. SCHOLARSHIP
ANGEL: Fund the cost of my meals with a $120 contribution. Receive a hand-signed print of a recent watercolor, painted during the fall in Durham last year. $10 ANGEL: Every little bit helps. I'll send you a hand signed note card of the fall Durham watercolor. Everyone who contributes will have an opportunity to join a live Zoom recap of the conference, with my takeaways. AND, if I'm lucky enough to earn more than what I need, this will be a great moment to use the extra contributions to support many needs in my studio - web site update/migration, new headshots, much-needed studio shelving and organization. The list is
not quite endless.

In the past few months I've started taking on private art coaching students. It's been a refreshing to start offering this individualized option again - I've been teaching privately
for almost 20 years. I'm currently working with a high school senior who decided that she wanted to apply for architecture school, but had not built up a complete portfolio. Over the past month and a half, she's started over five new works to fill out her portfolio for early action submission to two schools. I know she's going to make her deadline! Another student, an adult parent, is throwing herself into her artwork, pushing skills and ideas. She reached out to me to work with her directly in painting skills, color, and technique. We've been exploring color and painting possums in gouache, working with
some supplies she has in her own studio.
Whether you have a personal goal, or a teen who needs some portfolio support, I have limited coaching sessions available. Reach out to me and I'll send you my Calendly with my availability for the next six weeks.
