Hi there , I'm so thrilled to share that because of so many of you, I booked my trip to Houston, TX for the NOAH Convention! Together, y'all made it happen. I'm behind in personally thanking you, but please know if you made a
donation towards the trip, your thank you gift will be coming to you. I'm inundated with multiple projects, trying to secure interviews, teaching, and taking care of admin stuff in between. In the midst of all this, we experienced Helene, which in Durham, was thankfully not terrible, but as you know it has devastated the western Carolinas. So I've been working on figuring out how to support disaster relief efforts. Read below about the beautiful things happening in my art world, a last call for watercolorists to join me Tuesday by the Eno, and how purchasing my work can help disaster relief to
WNC, as well as resources to support disaster recovery if you're so inclined. Thank you for lifting me
up; I hope I can do the same for others. Creatively,
Come Watercolor at the Eno!

"Dropping into Horton Grove" 24" x 24", Oil on Stretched Linen, Unframed, $1200 FRESH is an innovative exhibit held annually at ArtSpace in Raleigh, NC. The exhibit is an open invitation to artists in the area, professionals and never-before exhibited artists, and all work submitted is exhibited for the first month. Over 250 works were submitted this
year! You can visit the Preview Exhibit, through 10/27. During
the Preview Exhibit, this year's juror, Jessica Orzulak, Associate Curator at the Asheville Museum of Art, will select a smaller number of works to present a juried show which will go on exhibit from November through early January at ArtSpace. 🤞 SEE the PREVIEW EXHIBIT: Check ArtSpace's Hours for other times to visit. Let me know if you want to meet to see the show together. I don't have photos yet - if you were there and saw my work, send me a photo please!
Among the many things keeping me busy was a plein air event held this past week by the Orange County Arts Commission. Paint it Orange, is an annual event that hosts 90 artists to paint in and around Orange County, NC - areas around Chapel Hill and Hillsborough. I've always wanted to participate and finally signed up this year. It wasn't the easiest of weeks to fit this in my calendar, but I made it happen. Each artist chose a period of 2.5 days over which to paint in a location of their choice, with the deadline to submit 2 pieces to a Wet Paint Sale at 12:30pm on the 4th. I spent only 5 hours over my 2.5 days painting, but it was well worth it. Upon a
volunteer's recommendation, I went to Strouds Creek Farm in Hillsborough, which I learned is owned by a former Long Islander. On day one, I had an hour to paint and got familiar
with the landscape completing a small, 5" x 5" panel. On day two, I spent just over 4 hours painting the piece above. The icing on the cake, was visiting the exhibit of work yesterday, with my family, to find a beautiful red dot on the above painting. It sold in the event Friday night at the Eno Arts Mill. If you missed it, the exhibit is on through November and there will be another opening next month, 11/1. The smaller piece is still available.

SUPPORT DISASTER RELIEF IN WNC
I'm sure by now you've seen and heard about the devastation that Helene left in the mountains of North Carolina. While Durham was relatively unscathed and we've only been here for
three years, the mountains have been etched into my heart. We've been to Asheville, Hendersonville, Boone, Beech Mountain, Banner Elk, Black Mountain, Canton, Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. None have been tremendously long stays, but there the landscape in WNC is so vastly different from the Poconos of my youth. It's a place we long to go - especially living in the heat of Durham. Now, it's changed. Chimney Rock is mostly gone. Lake Lure is filled with debris. People are still cut off and isolated, without power, and basic needs. Many are without homes, and many have lost loved ones. I've been watching
artists with total losses of studio space and decades of work. And, there's so much more. I've already made a
small donation to the NC Artists Disaster Relief Fund, but have been watching to see how else and to whom I'd like to support. The trouble is there is so much need. So without further delaying, I have two ways I can further help: - Now through 10/15, 25% of any sales of my artwork or classes through TraillWorks will go to relief efforts. I'm going to split the donations to the NC Artists Disaster Relief Fund and Triangle Mutual Aid.
- If you are looking for reliable resources to donate directly to - please visit this live Googlesheet. I discovered this last week on a reliable group and have seen many of these organizations mentioned. It's very comprehensive, and is constantly being updated.
