It's Easy Being Green

Jennie discovered a fantastic organization called Frogs are Green, which was founded by a Jersey City graphic designer, Susan Newman, who is raising awareness of the importance of frogs to our ecosystems. The site is hosting an art contest around the theme, "It's Easy Being Green." Several of Jennie's student artists worked on pieces communicating the theme, with seven students completing and entering works. The winners will be announced December 15, 2011 and featured in a blog post on Frogsaregreen.com. View the submissions from TraillWorks on our Facebook page.

 The TraillWorks Team

  Good Luck Alyse

It is with sadness that we say goodbye to one of our interns, Alyse DiBlasio. Alyse spent her fall semester planning our Holiday Exhibit, "Good Things, Small Packages". From corresponding with artists and the media, to putting in long hours with Jennie hanging artwork, she had quite a busy four months. She was an integral part of successfully getting two large group exhibits off the ground and running. Alyse is working towards her degree in Art History at East Stroudsburg University, hoping to finish by 2013. It's been a great pleasure to have her on the TraillWorks team and we wish her all the best on her future endeavors, and hope that she won't be a stranger!

Opening Reception Recap

If you missed one, or both, of the openings to our holiday exhibit they were a smashing success. Great fun was had, many perfect gifts were found and delicious sliders and wings were enjoyed compliments of Trinity Lounge. This was our first exhibit hosting a private pre-sale event the evening before the public opening. It was well-attended and received great compliments, so we hope to continue this into the future. A special congratulations goes out to the following artists whose work found a cozy new home and helped make the holiday season a little more artful: Brenda Decker, David Ohlerking, Heidi Lanino, Jennie Traill Schaeffer, Joann Wells Greenbaum, and Martha C. Hall. There are still wonderful pieces left to take home this holiday season so make sure to stop into TraillWorks to find that perfect gift.

Project Self Sufficiency
Season of Hope Toy Drive

Every year Project Self Sufficiency holds a 'Season of Hope Toy Drive' to collect toys for children in low-income families ages 0 to 18 in Sussex County. This year Project Self Sufficiency is hoping to collect 10,000 toys but they can't do it alone, so in the spirit of the holiday season and our love of giving back TraillWorks is helping out by being a drop off location for donated toys. You can drop off new toys to TraillWorks between now and the 15th.
